Sierra Nets, a veteran-owned company, hand-crafts fine wooden custom fly fishing nets for the novice to professional fly fisher, or for those looking for a gift for a fly fisher. Sierra Nets only creates heirloom quality custom fly fishing nets by commission, and occasionally, for sale in our Sierra Nets for Sale Section. We are not a high production shop and will take the time necessary to work one on one with you, the client, to create a meaningful heirloom quality custom fly fishing net that meets your specifications, and exceeds your expectations! Our Clients' Testimonials tell the tale.
Sierra Nets also hand-crafts a variety of Accessories to complement your new custom fly fishing net such as: Hand-Tied Lanyards, Net Safety Lanyards, Wooden Magnetic Rod Holders, Latigo Leather & Wooden Magnetic Net Releases with Stainless Steel S-clips, and Replacement Nets.
Greg Madrigal, a U.S. Army veteran, has been in the custom woodworking businesses for over 20 years and is an extremely passionate catch & release fly fisherman. He field "tests" his own collection of custom fly fishing nets whenever, and wherever possible. Each custom fly fishing net is created using traditional methods. We make your net, using a variety of hand and power tools and plenty of elbow grease, right here in the United States of America. Every year, we donate product to support Project Healing Waters, Casting for Recovery, and other non-profits like TU.
Sierra Nets uses only the finest hardwoods available including many locally harvested urban hardwoods, and rescued or recycled wood, as well as exotic wood species. You may choose to create your own custom fly fishing net using the variety of woods we stock or some clients prefer to supply the woods from their own personal stock or buy it online. Most clients add personal touches like hand carved and inlaid monograms, full names, nick names, or their favorite fly, fish, or bible verse. Inlay materials we stock are copper, brass, black stone, azurite, malachite, fire coral, bronze, Chrysocolla, Kingman Turquoise, and aluminum.
Some of the woods we stock are: Salvaged Genuine Mahogany, Figured Claro Walnut, Pacific Big Leaf Maple, Spalted Maple, Claro & Black Walnut, Wenge, Maple, Maple Burl, Bird’s Eye Maple, Quilted Maple, Curly Maple, Spanish Cedar, Cherry, Bloodwood, Cocobolo, Mahogany, African Mahogany, Carolina Cherry Burl, White Oak, Padauk, Canary Wood, Douglas Fir, Teak, Black Oak, and Black Acacia.
