Craftsmanship You Can Feel
I remember, vividly, salvaging this large burl from a felled oak near Temecula, CA. We cut it off the main trunk and loaded it into the back of my Audi A3. We loaded it using a skip loader that could have picked up the whole car! After slicing it like a loaf of bread, the slabs have been drying in my studio ever since.
This net began with carefully selected black oak burl chosen for pattern, color, and compact figure. After stabilizing the blanks, we bent and laminated strips of salvaged genuine mahogany, wenge and quartersawn white oak into the graceful hoop that's as strong as it is beautiful. The handle is contoured for a natural grip, the hand-rubbed finish will have you wondering how wood can feel amazingly silky. The natural inclusions, caused by drying the burl, were filled with genuine Kingman Turquoise for a unique one-of-a-kind look. No two nets are exactly alike — the grain figure, the hoop wood pattern, the weight in your hand — it's all yours.
