Spalted Maple
This amazing net handle is made from spalted maple. A bit of information on spalted wood: Spalting is caused by many colonies (outlined by the black lines in the wood) of wood rotting fungus. For one to use spalted maple, it must be caught before the fungus has rendered the wood into a crumbly mess. This net handle was stabilized with an acrylic hardening agent to ensure its strength, stability, and water resistance.
